Not A Productive Day

Well...got next to nothing done today. The girls were feeling needy, Isabelle has a cold and is getting her two year molars, Abby is teething and Sarabeth.....well she's 2 month old they're pretty much designed for neediness arent they?

The goal for tomorrow is to get all the solid colored fabrics cut and to start putting together blocks to be sewn.....

Here are my squishlings

Cutting..cutting...cutting...and you guessed it more cutting

Well I spent the day with my rotary cutter...I still have a ton more to cut. I'm waiting for my machine, a wonderful friend is giving me a Bernia I think thats what it's called. I cannot wait to begin putting these things together. I've come up with several different products. They include Squishlings Building Block Set, Squishling's Baby Banner, Squishling's Stacking Shapes, Squishling's Posh Posies (which are soft squishy flowers with a stuffed center that will have a cotton ball with some essential oil in lavender or maybe other scents sewn into it) I think eventually I'll also have balls but I need to perfect my pattern for those. The blocks are going to have several different themed sets. Sensory blocks, color blocks..etc. They will also have loops on them so they can link together for make believe play and for counting etc.

Chris is back at work tomorrow so I'll use some of that time to set up my crafting area into a lovely work area. We of course are 5 people in a tiny apartment so my "studio" will be squished between the back of our couch and our kitchen lol. I have a sweet little tea cart that my grandmother left me when she passed and a couple of little bookshelves which will be perfect for organizing. The only thing I'm going to eventually need is a more comfortable chair. I'll be swinging by Michael's to pick up some more of the beautiful photo boxes that they have, they are perfect for organizing all of my supplies. My final order of business is to rig it so none of my little squishlings wander into my little area.

While I was spending time rocking the baby I surfed around the I can Haz Cheezburger site OMG those kittens are so funny. I also spent time on BBC and with my wonderful internet sisters on the TK site. These are the most amazing women, we met on Baby Center on the Feb 2007 board, went through some drama together. Left and went to our own bulletin board, went through some drama, trolls, spies there and ended up where we are now, a tightly knit group of women who seemingly have nothing in common but mommy hood. Its a beautiful thing, we disagree on a number of things but manage quite well not to let it affect our friendship. When I had my third baby in less than three years and was feeling unloved and cut off from the world they basically threw me an online baby shower. We now have 2 more expectant mommies in our group and I look forward to doing the same for them. I seriously love these ladies like teachers. We live such different lives but are so close.

Busy Busy Busy

Before we get started let me properly introduce myself. I am Amber, I am married to Chris the love of my life. I have three darling girls who are as of this moment 2, 1 and 2 months. Yes I'm busy, yes I have my hands full and no we didnt wait the full 6 weeks lol. Those are the top three questions asked of me when people find out our children's ages. Isabelle my 2 year old is a hand full, she's turning into one of those leggy little girls with an attitude, I tell my mom that she's my 2 year old teenager since she seems to be going through adolesence early lol. My 1 year old is Abigail or Abby, she's my little cuddle munchkin and looks just like me and my side of the family, blonde hair, blue eyes and fair skin which makes her stand out from her sisters who got most of their genes from their daddy who is Mexican/PR. My last little one is Sarabeth, she's still little and a bit of a squishlump. She's started smiling and cooing a lot more now so everyone is much more interested in her.
Currently I'm working on the inventory and copy for my shop Squishling's Specialties. Squishling is a little word I made up to describe my babies when they were small, I called them squish, squishling and many other words combined with it. I started making toys for them when I realized that A) many baby toys are hard and potential missiles and B) I am sick of worrying that my child has ingested a large amount of lead.
Well the next two days are Chris's (my husband) days off. Its next to impossible to get anything useful done. Great news though he is letting me get a Gutterman thread collection for our anniversary gift. Not exactly the bottle of champagne he was envisioning but its what I really want. We are going to be setting up my crafting area today which is great I won't be shuffled all over the place any more, my crafting supplies won't be in little bins all over the house. They will be in little bins on a little bookshelf, and my fabric can finally come out of laundry baskets YAY.
A lovely friend of mine is giving me a new machine that I can hopefully form a better working relationship with. My fingers are crossed. My little Singer seems to hate me, and honestly I hate it too lol.
My girls are all doing great, they are growing like weeds and keeping me busy today I spent my day chasing them around convincing them that diapers should stay ON our booties or else the bootie cooties will bite them, they thought this was quite hillarious.....
I'm waiting on my fabric charms to come from the quilting site I ordered them from, it's the first tiem I'm getting to order designer fabrics so I'm unreasonably excited about them.
